A quote found in many compilations of Subhashitams.. It is seen in Bhavishya Puranam too. Irrespective of the context, the statement is ever relevant.. Nice and sweet words have a soothing effect beyond comparison
The meaning of the Subhashitam is
Neither, cool water, sandal paste or very comforting shade of a tree would give such happiness to the mind of a person as could be compared to the pleasant state of mind that would be provided by listening to sweet and soothing words of a fellow human being..
Shade of a tree, cool water and sandal paste are all sources of extreme comfort,, but nice words tops everything else..

ദാഹിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവന്‍ തണുത്ത ജലം ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോഴോ,
ചന്ദനക്കൂട്ടു അണിയുമ്പോഴോ,
വെയിലത്ത്‌ വലയുന്നവന്‍ മരത്തിന്റെ തണലില്‍ എത്തിപ്പെടുമ്പോഴോ അവന് കിട്ടുന്ന അനുഭൂതിയെക്കാള്‍ എത്രയോ എറെയാണ്.
