कृपणोऽप्यकुलीनोऽपि सज्जनैर्वजितः सदा।
सेव्यते स नरैर्लोकैर् यस्यास्ति धनसञ्चयः॥
इन्दिश्चे स्प्रूचे ७२७ पञ्चतन्त्रे
Even if a man is a miser who would never condescend to give anything in charity,
Even if he is not of any birth of class,
Even if he is of a nasty charater and conduct that would promp all good and sensible men to avoid his company
Still, if he is affluent, if he has substantial wealth,
People all around will gather around him and treat him with great attention, perhaps in expectation of the crumbs he would throw at them.
That is the nature of man.
यद्यपि even if नरः a man कृपणः miser, अकुलीनः of wretched birth सज्जनैः good men सदा always वर्जितः avoided वर्तते too अपि is सन् यदि even if he is so यस्य for whom धन संजयः accumulation of money, wealth अस्ति is सः he लोकैर नरैः by people of the world सदा always सेव्यते treated with attention (and perhaps with expectation)
