When selecting a groom to whom one should give his daughter in marriage, only the following seven factors need be considered.
The compatibility of gender… (In those days it was believed that male should marry the female )
The mindset, the character and conduct of the groom
The social standing and the influence and patronage commanded by the groom and his family
The knowledge, education, skill and experience possessed by the groom
The wealth, the financial stability and affluence of the groom
The physical attractiveness of the groom
The age of the groom
One need not go too deep into other factors, if any
This is a quote from Panchatantram.. It should be remembered that the ideas presented in that text usually form a distilled essence of worldly wisdom, althought presented as simple stories involving animals.
