I posted an anecdote connecting Kalidasa and Bharthruhari here, and someone asked whether Bhoja was the person who was with Kalidasa..
My answer..
"the Bhoja Kalidas combine we see in Sanskrit literature is just fictional and not authenticated, as good or as bad as any other story.
..I have tried read almost everything available on the books and materials available on the date of Kalidasa and no two Scholars are in agreement about the identity or the time of Kalidasa..
Many say it was third century BC and others say it was fourth or fifth century AD.. or anywhere in between..
There is a celebrated stanza which says that Kalidasa was one of the nine gems in the court of Vikrama,, the other gems being Dhanvantari, Kshapanaka, Amarasimha, Shanku, VetalaBhatta, Ghatakarpara, and Varaahamihira and Vararuchi..
And who was this King Vikrama?
It is again a matter of guesswork..
Some say Vikrama is the famous Vikramaaditya of Vikramaarka Charita.. Vetalapanchavimshati etc..
In that story Vikramaaditya has two brothers Bhatti and Bharthruhari.. and that story is too long and beside the point here to discuss..
Anyway, the anecdote connecting Kalidasa and Bhartru Hari(the prince or yuvaraja) has been recounted consciously and deliberately..
and it is possible that Barthruhari was in the company of Kalidasa, and it need not be Bhoja who was in the company of Kalidasa..
I think I have answered the parenthesis
