He was a devout bhakta..of both Shiva and Vishnu .. He is also from Tiruvarur it would appear.. He was not a conformist.. he had a mind of his own.. so the conservative agraharamites ostracized him..
It was a sraadhdham at his household and the vaideekas around refused to attend..
On the eve of the ceremony he visited the local temples of Narayana and Parameswara and invited them as bhokthas and prepared for the ritual.
The nosy and intolerant villagers were watching to see how the ritual could be conducted without their co-operation.
But in time, manthras were heard from the house and all indications of a satisfied set of pitrus were apparent..
However, the watchers could not see anyone emerging out of the household..
However, instructions were received from the sanctum sanctoria of the two deities to their archakas in due time that the two gentlemen did not want the evening naivedyam since they had attended a pitru karyam as bhoktas..
